Which is the best Great Barrier Reef tour?

There are many tours and boats that head out to the Great Barrier Reef each day, so it is impossible to choose which is the best. However, a tour that is often considered to be a favourite for travellers, is the Great Barrier Reef Premium Snorkelling Tour. This day trip is jam packed full of adventure, beautiful landscapes, a delicious buffet lunch, an informative and entertaining crew, and so much more! Below is an overview of how a day on the Great Barrier Reef Premium Snorkelling Tour will most likely look like.

Check in at the Reef Fleet Terminal desk

You will start your morning off bright and early by heading to the Reef Fleet Terminal to check in for your day trip. You will be greeted by a friendly reservations team member who will brief you on the day and hand you some paperwork to fill out if you are wishing to do an optional dive. After this you will head down to the boat and jump aboard to begin your day on the reef. Once on board, a crew member will welcome you and serve you with a delicious fresh tropical fruit salad and tea or coffee for breakfast.

Debrief from the crew and set sail out onto the reef

After a short but informative introduction from several of the crew members you will be able to enjoy the perks of this stylish catamaran. The journey can take up to two hours to reach the first reef, however during that time you can relax on the boom netting, soak up never ending views and mingle with the other passengers and crew on the boat.

Arriving at the first reef stop

You will be stopping to explore two different reefs during your trip, which ones depend on the conditions of the sea on the day and that will be decided by the captain. After a quick snorkel demonstration, you are free to head out onto the magical reef and snorkel to your hearts content. If you have chosen to do an optional diving upgrade, you will take part in that during this time, and still have time to snorkel as well, as a standard dive usually lasts around 15-20 minutes.

 Buffet lunch break

All that swimming, snorkelling, and diving works up an appetite and luckily enough the boat has a personal chef who prepares a buffet lunch for all passengers after the first reef stop. Depending on the day you travel, different meal options will be available, however, we can guarantee you will enjoy every choice! After a hearty lunch, the boat will head for the second reef.

 Second reef experience

Exploring the second reef is remarkably similar to the first, however it is just a slight change in scenery and a second chance to see some marine life that you may have missed out on in the first reef. You will have an hour to snorkel and dive if you wish, otherwise you are free to relax on the boat. After a day of admiring the Great Barrier Reef, you will head back to Cairns marina and finish up the day at around 5pm. It is an excellent trip!
